Nashville Children's Theatre, Nashville, TN - $$

The Nashville Children's Theatre invited us to opening night of their production of "James and the Giant Peach."

This was my first trip to the Nashville Children's Theatre and it will for sure not be my last!!

I was impressed with how easy it was to get to and ample parking, no garages to navigate!  They were just two easy turns off the interstate exit off the 2nd/4th street exit.  And parking is free and you are just a few blocks from Broadway and activities when you are done.

The theatre has been operating in Nashville for a very long time and cater specifically to Children.  They have around 5 productions a year that each run from 4-6 weeks with shows for the public on Saturdays and Sundays at 2 pm with a few other public showing sprinkled in.  They also do weekday shows for schools.

With each production they also have special nights such as ASL Sign-Interpreted Performances, Sensory Friendly performances and Grandparents day to name a few!

Their actors are local professionals and their skills coupled with phenomenal staging, costumes and effects made for a very memorable evening!!

Every weekend performance starts with some crafts and activities for the kids that have to do with the performance.

My daughter opted to make a rhinoceros puppet and many of the boys opted to play in the "crocodile tongue" goo!  You will have to watch the show to know what those mean to the play ; )

The theatre is very updated and comfortable and of course, everything is very kid friendly!  Makes for a pleasant viewing experience.

I honestly didn't know much about "James and the Giant Peach" prior to seeing their production, so it was all new to me and my daughter and we both really enjoyed it!  The actors were amazing, the costumes and songs were very entertaining and the hour and a half flew by!

I was a little concerned if it would keep my 4 year olds attention span that long, but there were no issues!  You feel involved when it's performed right in front of you and your are sucked right in!  That's something you just don't get at the movies!!

"James and the Giant Peach" runs until December 14th.

Up next is "Elephants and Piggie's We are in a Play," that runs January 15th through February 8th.  "Jacks Tale A Mythical Mountain Musical" starts February 19th and ends on March 8th.  The last production for this season is "Dr. Seuss's The Cat in the Hat" which runs from April 9th through May 17th, so plug those in your calendar, you will not want to miss them!

You can find all the details on their shows on their website at www.nashvillect.org and on their Facebook page www.facebook.com/nashvillechildrenstheatre.

Tickets are:
$20 Adults
$14 Children
$17 Seniors/Military/Educators

They also offer season subscriptions, flexpass subscriptions or group discounts for 10 or more!

Tips:

Arrive early for the kid activities
They sell drinks but I believe you can bring your own snacks
Wait around the lobby afterwards to meet the characters!

The Nashville Children's Theatre also offers a number of acting classes and camps for the kids, ages 4 and up.  Many are over the summer but several are sprinkled through the school year during fall and spring breaks.  All those details are on their website!
