The Nashville Children's Theatre - "Elephant and Piggie, We are in a Play" - $$

I wrote my first review of the Nashville Children's Theatre back in November, and you can read that review HERE.
I'll apologize ahead of time that the blogger site is having issues uploading pictures, so this review will not have pictures.  I felt it important to go on and at least give the details of the play!

We were once again invited back to see the opening screening of their newest production "Elephant and Piggie, We are in a Play" which opened to a great crowd on Thursday night the 15th of January.

Once again, they did not disappoint!

This play is based on best-selling children's book author Mo Willem's and his Elephant and Piggie series. There is plenty of music, dancing and serious questions answered like "what do you wear to a fancy pool costume party"?

This play is geared towards the PreSchool - 3rd grade group, not that older or younger wouldn't enjoy it, but those are the ones who are going to relate the most.

As a parent, it was quite comical, and enjoyable, to see Elephant Gerald and Piggie (both adult actors) act so much like young children in their moves, antics and sayings.  And the kids were just captivated from the moment it began!

This play is also a good "starter play" for some of your younger children because it's run time is only about an hour, where many of the play are 1:30 or more.

In asking my 4.5 year old daughter which play she preferred, "James and the Giant Peach" or "Elephant and Piggie, We are in a Play" she quickly responded that Elephant and Piggie was her choice.

Several of the actors were familiar from "James and the Giant Peach" along with a few others.  As always, they were superb!

Shawn Knight was cast as Gerald (Elephant), Amanda Card was Piggie (Pig) who my daughter now emulates daily, and then the fun and comedic Squirrelles 1, 2 and 3 were Lauren Fitzgerald, Rona Carter and Martha Wilkinson.

One thing I did learn new from our previous visit, they have boosters available for the kids to sit on!  The seating is like movie theater seats (so pretty comfy) and then this just sit right on top to give the smaller play goers an extra boost to be able to see everything!

We were running a bit behind this time, but as always, they had crafts for the kids before hand I just cannot comment on what those crafts were this time.

Whether it's this play, one of the other upcoming ones this season, or all of them, I really feel like this is a must do on your list with the kiddos.  The plays may be geared towards the kids, but that doesn't mean that the parents don't find them enjoyable as well.

The kids love it!
