Einstein is a Dummy - Nashville Children's Theatre Review - $$

The 2015-2016 season at The Nashville Children's Theatre kicked off Thursday night September 17th with "Einstein is a Dummy."

"Einstein is a Dummy" isn't your typical production as it's probably not a book or play you are familiar with, but as everything I've seen from The Nashville's Children's Theatre, it's still worth seeing!

In reading their online synopsis of this production, it's a little bit of a look into what Albert Einstein may have been like as a child.  It's very funny, keeps you engaged and even though this one is recommended for the older elementary age students, my 5 year old still very much enjoyed it.  She didn't "get" some of their comments on the speed of light, relativity, gravity and what the song about E=MC^2 actually meant, but it was done in such a way that really, regardless of age, it was a fun production.

If you ask her what she enjoyed the most it was the Cat that was in the production.....she was literally almost in tears with Albert was being slightly mean to the cat at one point, and the girl character whose name happened to be Elsa.  I think she gravitated towards her because she was the only girl and after Frozen, all things named Elsa are super cool.

It's also an interesting take because we all know that Albert Einstein was a genius and maybe we've heard he was a bit quirky, but I think this helps to show that being a little quirky, maybe a bit nerdy and not "average" or "popular" are ok and he turned out pretty darn good in the long run.  Even though people called him a "dummy" because no one really understood him and I think a lot of kids can relate to not feeling understood in one way or another.

So like all productions here, it's worth going to see, it runs around 70 minutes and time flies by, but this one may be especially of interest if one of your kids is a bit quirky, or feels misunderstood or is just a bit of a science nerd like I always was growing up.

This production runs Sept. 17 - October 4, 2015.  You can find out more about buying tickets HERE and as a note, we are really looking forward to their next two productions so get them on your calendar NOW!

Charlotte's Web will run from October 29 - Dec 6 and Cinderella is Jan 14 - Feb 7, I know those will be great!
